The University of Maine Center for Science and Mathematics Education Research and the Maine Mathematics and Science Teaching Excellence Collaborative (MMSTEC) are sponsoring a joint conference from June 23 to 25, 2002, at The University of Maine in Orono, Maine. Conference participants will include grades 6-12 teachers, college and university faculty involved in science and mathematics education research, and faculty who teach science and mathematics, including those involved in teacher training. The Conference will begin with a banquet and opening keynote by E.F. "Joe" Redish (link) on Sunday evening, June 23, and proceed with two days of talks, workshops, panel discussions, and poster sessions addressing the theme of "Integrating Science and Mathematics Education Research into Teaching." Presenters will be from the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, Earth sciences, mathematics, and physics and will address issues in educational research and instruction at the middle school, secondary, and post-secondary levels.
