ABSTRACT Studio Calc/Phys: Combining Calculus, Physics, and Active
Learning To help students make connections between calculus and physics, we have developed a curriculum that combines the two subjects. Wherever possible, students immediately apply the mathematics to physical applications; the physics is then applied to real-world situations. In addition to making clear the connections between calculus and physics, we used other effective pedagogical tehniques: group work, project-based learning, structured problem solving, writing to learn, and focus on conceptual understanding. During our talk we will discuss how we used education research to design and assess the course. Back to Announcement Page |
